Abstract: This paper presents research from roughly the past 15 years in a wide range of disciplines showing that politics is much more a function of psychophysiology than rational thought. This emerging fact-based data, has revealed that humans are driven mostly by hormones, group dynamics, and the way we respond to negative stimuli. The takeaway from all of this: psychophysical influences, many occurring with no conscious knowledge that they are happening, combined with Negativity Bias and a deep commitment to protecting one's personal status and position in one's life network are far more important than any facts and are the real dynamic shaping politics.
