Repeated maternal separation during early life induces anxiety-like behavior of adult BALB/c mice

Abstract:
Background: Early life adversity plays a major role in the etiology of mood and anxiety disorders. Previous studies have shown that postnatal maternal separation (MS) can induce marked behavioral and physiological impairments in adulthood including anxiety, depression, cognitive deficits, and others dysfunction.
Methods: In this study, we sought to assess behavioral outcomes from early-life stress paradigms, by different tests such as open-field test, a hole board test, a light–dark box test and an elevated plus-maze test of adult Balb/c mice. Pups were separated from their dam and littermates for 180 min/day (‘MS’) from postnatal days P 0 -P 21 , control rats remained undisturbed.
Results: At 70 days old, male offspring were either tested for anxiety- related behaviors. The results showed that MS reduced Motor coordination in rotarod test, and increased anxiety-like behaviors in the light–dark box test, in the open-field test, in hole board test and the elevated plus-maze test in adult Balb/c mice. Conclusion. EMS rats displayed greater anxiety behavior vs. controls. The present study provides novel insights into the effects of MS on behavior.
Biography: Scientist doctor of Drug Sciences, Associate member of the Pharmacodynamics Research Team, Pharmacology and Toxicology Laboratory, Temporary professor at ISPITS in Rabat. Born on 26- 09-1981 in Sidi Kacem, University Diploma in Biostatistics and Research Methodology, in faculty of medicine and pharmacy. in 2017 i had my National Doctorate, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Rabat. I have a 17 publication in international journals. I have passed several orals and posted communications in the scientific congress. I have participated to 3rd edition of the International Symposium of Young Researchers in Neurosciences Faculty of Sciences Rabat · Mohammed V University from November 12 to 14, 2021, I was as a member of the committee of organization. I teach a Practical Work of Pharmacology and Toxicology, faculty of medicine and pharmacy of rabat since 2016. Also, I teach Practical work: microbiology, faculty of medicine and pharmacy of rabat since 2018. I teach lecture on anatomophysiopathology applied to speech therapy, in Higher Institute of Nursing Professions and Health Techniques, Rabat, since 2017. I supervise master's students and doctoral students of the pharmacodynamics and physiopathology team of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Rabat and the Faculty of Sciences of Rabat in carrying out their research work (Technical assistance and scientific discussions, etc...).
