Title Talk: Quality Control of Mitochondria in Parkinson's Disease (PD) Using ATP and Bradford Assays Author: Al-Baraa Akram El-Sayed De montfort University in Leicester United kingdom Email ID: albraaakram94@gmail.com Volume: Parkinson's Disease 2023_CN37_AA01 Abstract Parkinson's disease is a heterogeneous, multifactorial and often complex disease characterized by motor impairment due to the presence of Lewy bodies and prominent degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. Although the specific pathogenesis involving PD remains under investigation, mitochondrial dysfunction has been widely accepted as one of the major pathogenic pathways underlying the development of PD. Based on the hypothesis that depiction of HtrA2 (serine protease gene, mitochondrial precursor) might contribute to an increase in mitochondrial stress and transcriptional up regulation of the nuclear stress response CHOP gene. The present study aimed to analyze through laboratory based research the role of HtrA2 and CHOP in the transmission of stress signaling and the consequent activation of mitochondrial quality control in Parkinson's disease using ATP and Bradford assays.

96-well plates of Bradford assay Biography: Al-Baraa Akram is a clinical pharmacist and assistant lecturer in De montfort University in Leicester-United kingdom in faculty of health and life sciences- department of pharmaceutical biotechnology. He had his bachelor degree in clinical pharmacy from faculty of pharmacy-Assiut University in Egypt and he had his master degree in pharmaceutical biotechnology from De montfort University in Leicester in United kingdom. He published 9 journal articles and 2 books, he has also 7 patents. He works also as a pharmacist in Egypt for more than 5 years. He participated in many international conferences as a lecturer and worked as a demonstrator in faculty of pharmacy-pharmacognosy department in 6th October University in Egypt and awarded the best scientific research in Arab republic of Egypt in 2017 from Aswan University and he awarded scholarships in Russia, United Kingdom and Germany.
