International Live Conference on Memory Disorders and Conditions
Date: June 03, 2023
Time: 8 PM Indian Standard Time
Location: Online Conference
Theme: Unraveling the Mysteries of Memory Disorders
Abstract:
Memory disorders pose significant challenges, affecting the storage, retention, and recollection of memories due to damage to neuroanatomical structures. This intriguing topic encompasses both progressive conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and Dementia, as well as immediate disorders resulting from head injuries.
Electroencephalography (EEG) and Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) are pivotal neurological procedures utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of various neurological disorders. EEG involves recording brain activity, providing insights into functional conditions and cognitive dysfunction, including global declines or localized deficits.
Recent research has demonstrated the potential of EEG in evaluating changes associated with memory disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease (Eli S. Neiman, 2019). Furthermore, a noteworthy study conducted in China within aging and elderly populations revealed a correlation between reduced peripheral nerve conduction velocity and Alzheimer's disease in this demographic (Xinyi Qian, Ling Yue, 2022).
While EEG and NCS offer valuable insights, it is important to note that relying solely on neuro- diagnostic processes for the accurate diagnosis of memory disorders may not be optimal. This realization opens up new avenues for future research, encouraging interdisciplinary collaborations and the exploration of complementary approaches.
In this session, I Abolaji Erinfolami, MSc (Medical Physics), BSc (Physics), PATS, NSNS certified, PALS, BLS, ACLS, will present a comprehensive overview of the diagnostic and research approaches used in unraveling the mysteries of memory disorders. Through engaging discussions and thought-provoking insights, we will explore the potential of EEG and NCS in understanding memory disorders, while acknowledging the need for a multifaceted diagnostic framework.
